Stars and stables. Lights and shadows. In this 2026 we are witnessing two diametrically opposed versions of the same player: Kevin de Bruyne. The question arises: who is the real KDB? Is that what we see at Napoli, under the guidance of Massimiliano Allegri, who seems slow, staid and even 'aged', or is it the dazzling and charged one who is shining with Mark van Bommel's Belgian national team?
The debate becomes heated, especially after the Belgian national team's victory against Turkey, where De Bruyne was the absolute protagonist. In the microphones of VTM, he made statements that did not go unnoticed: "It's fantastic. I already felt good and now we have also played three good matches. This style of play suits me. We started well and we will try to continue on this path." Words that highlight his satisfaction in the game and his ability to adapt.
In Naples, however, the situation seems different. De Bruyne often appears in difficulty, as if his pace has slowed down compared to the intensity of the Italian championship. There is no shortage of criticism and public opinion is wondering about its current state. He almost seems to be experiencing a second youth with the national team, where he feels involved and motivated: "I try to set an example for the younger players, and they willingly follow me. I feel I can still give my contribution. I'm having fun, and that's the most important thing."
After these statements, the doubt becomes legitimate: which version of Kevin de Bruyne is the 'real' one? That of Napoli, who seems to be struggling to find form, or that of the Belgian selection, where he plays with a verve and vitality that makes him one of the best? This debate intensifies, fueled by his performances and the results of the national team. Fans and football experts are wondering what the future of the champion is and how he can shine again in Serie A too.
