Liverpool goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili has reportedly been offered on loan to several Serie A clubs. His move to Liverpool is proving to be a flop.
Liverpool overhauled their squad last summer, with Richard Hughes saying goodbye to several regulars, including Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz and Trent Alexander-Arnold. Several players considered stronger than the previous ones were also purchased, such as Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike. However, the team did not perform better, finishing the Premier League in fifth place. Now it seems that a recent signing is also proving to be a flop: according to what was reported by the Liverpool Echo, goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili would have been offered on loan to several Serie A clubs. Mamardashvili was bought in 2024 for 24 million pounds, but was immediately loaned out to Valencia. Last season the Georgian goalkeeper returned to Liverpool to compete for the starting place with Alisson Becker, but despite some opportunities given due to the Brazilian goalkeeper's injuries, his performances were not entirely convincing. With Alisson having just renewed his contract until 2027, Mamardashvili risks having little space next season too and for this reason his entourage is reportedly looking for a loan for the goalkeeper, where he can play with greater continuity. If he were to go out on loan, Mamardashvili would still have the chance to carve out a space for himself at Liverpool in the future, as his contract with the English club expires in 2031. However, it seems that his move to Liverpool was not a very wise deal: Alisson is still one of the best goalkeepers in the world and does not seem willing to leave Liverpool, while Mamardashvili is proving to be a losing bet.
