There is a new name for Napoli's defense. In the last few hours, that of Mbekezeli Mbokazi, a left-handed central defender born in 2005 for the Chicago Fire, considered one of the most interesting prospects in African football, has emerged. The performances offered at the recent World Cup attracted the attention of several European clubs and, among these, there would also be Napoli, interested in monitoring his growth.
Basia Michaels, the player's agent, took stock of the situation, speaking to Stile TV during the program Sali sulla giostra. "There is a lot of interest around the player. Napoli is following him carefully and the Chicago Fire are also managing the situation with great interest. Personally I have not had contact with Napoli's sporting director, but I know that the Italian club is observing the boy," he explained.
The agent then added: "The Chicago Fire want to sell the player, but the right club and an adequate offer will be needed. If Napoli were a concrete possibility and the clubs reached an agreement, I believe the operation could be successful."
Michaels confirmed that the defender would be enthusiastic about competing in Serie A. "Mbokazi told me clearly that he feels ready for a new experience and would like to play in Italy. At the moment there is interest from Belgium, Germany and Italy, but no concrete contact with the Chicago Fire," he declared.
Furthermore, the player is also receiving attention from some English clubs: "I've heard about Brentford and Nottingham Forest, but we're waiting for something more concrete. Simple rumors can also have an impact from a psychological point of view."
Finally, a joke about the possible landing in blue: "I don't know Allegri, but if the opportunity presents itself I will be happy to get to know him and the city of Naples. If everything goes well, I would like to be there with Mbokazi before the end of August. For now, however, there is only one hope left."
