Alexi Lalas has shared his power rankings for the World Cup quarterfinals, highlighting teams like France, Argentina and Morocco as contenders

The World Cup quarter-finals have been defined and will be played on Thursday with the match between France and Morocco. Despite an exciting journey to get to this point in the tournament, some teams have managed to qualify for the quarterfinals in unexpected ways. There are therefore teams that arouse some confidence and could aim for the final on 19 July. So here are Alexi Lalas' power rankings for the World Cup quarter-finals. And remember: they are my rankings. If you don't like them, make your own. 8. Switzerland — final victory odds: +3300 The team that just beat Colombia, namely Switzerland, takes eighth place. Switzerland is a team that can surprise, but no one will have any objections if they find themselves in eighth place. 7. Belgium — odds for the final victory: +3000 The "friends" of Belgium, who have just beaten us, are placed in seventh place. 6. Morocco — final win odds: +2700 This is a tough position, but I put Morocco in sixth place. Morocco might also deserve a higher ranking, but for now I'll place it here. 5. Spain — final victory odds: +360 This is probably the most controversial position: Spain in fifth place. I think many would have placed Spain higher. 4. England — final win odds: +460 This position hurts me, especially after the match where England went to the Azteca and beat Mexico in a historic match. In fourth place, England can be confident for the rest of the tournament. 3. Norway — final win odds: +1400 Norway has been considered by many to be a "dark horse" of the tournament, and so far they have lived up to that consideration and more. Despite what Lionel Messi is doing, I think what Erling Haaland is doing is just as extraordinary, if not more so, especially when you consider the fact that Haaland is not surrounded by a team as strong as Argentina's. 2. Argentina — final victory odds: +400 Speaking of Argentina, it remains in second place. However, the Argentines' last two matches were won but showed some difficulties. Credit to Argentina anyway. I consider them a bit generous in second place. 1. France — final victory odds: +180 Is there really another team that deserves first place in this ranking? Kylian Mbappé, Michael Olise, Ousmane Dembélé. There's no need to add anything else.
