In the 2026 World Cup, co-hosts Canada were eliminated from the tournament. Morocco scored three goals in the second half, with Azzedine Ounahi scoring a brace. Soufiane Rahimi netted the third goal in a late game in which Canada became the first host nation to be eliminated.

Canada started the match by putting pressure on the Moroccans, and both Jonathan David and Tani Oluwaseyi were stopped on two occasions by Moroccan goalkeeper Bono in the first eleven minutes. Although Morocco showed signs of frustration and were subjected to constant stress, with English referee Michael Oliver showing eight yellow cards, they managed to prevail.

Morocco came close to a third goal when Rahimi hit the crossbar with a header, but finally scored with the last touch of the match. This means that Canada's most successful campaign in World Cup history ends here, in a tournament in which they achieved their first point, their first win, progress to the group stage and a success in the round of 16.

Morocco will now face either Paraguay or France, who will compete later on Saturday, in the quarter-finals of the tournament.
