Despite the elimination from the World Cup, Bosnia coach Sergej Barbarez said he was very satisfied with the team's performance after the defeat against the United States. According to Barbarez, in fact, it was a great feat to reach the round of 16 and he feels like the "trotting coach" for what his team did. After the draw with Canada (1-1), the defeat against Switzerland (4-1) and the victory against Qatar (3-1), Bosnia reached the round of 16 as the best third place. This is the Balkan national team's first access to the direct elimination phase of a World Cup. "I told the guys how proud I was of them right after the game," Barbarez told reporters. "Reaching the round of 16 is an extraordinary feat and I'm really proud of these guys. It touches me deeply. Right now I'm the proudest coach in the world." Edin Dzeko, who was forced off after 50 minutes due to injury in the match against the United States, made no statement.
