The 1998 world champion with France, Christophe Dugarry, expressed his disappointment regarding the Paraguay national team during the 2026 World Cup. «Paraguay disgusts me! It's prehistoric football! Of course, we accept any form of football, it has the right to exist. But I also have the right to change the channel, because it bores me. There's no fun in it. I hope they come home… I don't want to see them anymore! The next time Paraguay is on TV, everyone will change the channel. I felt like I was watching a game from 30 years ago, and I think that even 30 years ago… the quality was superior! The image they create is repugnant and horrendous!” — reports the words of Dugarry RMC Sport. In the round of 16 match of the world championship, Paraguay lost against France (0-1), thus ending their adventure in the tournament. The 2026 World Cup takes place in the United States, Canada and Mexico from June 11 to July 19. The current world champion is Argentina, who faced France in the final of the 2022 global tournament. The regular time of the match ended with a score of 3-3, but in the penalty shootout the Argentines prevailed (4-2).
