RB Leipzig sporting director Marcel Schafer has revealed that the club intends to keep Yan Diomande for the 2026-27 season as well. Diomande has received numerous offers from major European clubs, with Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool reportedly competing to secure the 19-year-old's performances. The player directly contributed to 20 goals (12 scored and 8 assists) in 33 Bundesliga matches in the 2025-26 season, better only than that of Harry Kane (41), Michael Olise (34), Luis Diaz (29), Deniz Undav (25) and Christoph Baumgartner (21). However, Diomande completed the most dribbles (118, 50 more than any other player) and finishing take-on carries (104, 29 more than any other player). Furthermore, he had an impressive start to the 2026 World Cup, helping Ivory Coast reach the knockout stage for the first time in their history. Diomande became only the second African player ever (since 1966) to complete 10 or more dribbles (10) and create 10 or more chances (10) in a single World Cup group stage, after South Africa's Quinton Fortune in 2002. In fact, he was the first player to do so for any nation in the group stage since Brazil's Neymar in 2018. Despite the interest in Diomande, Leipzig insist they have no intention of selling the teenager this summer. "Our clear intention is for Yan Diomande to play for RB Leipzig next season. And we will not deviate from that. We know exactly what we have in him," Schafer told BILD. "Of course, if Yan continues to develop as he has done so far, there will come a time when we allow him to make the leap – but not this year. If we don't find a solution, then we won't find one – but he still has a four-year contract. So let me underline once again: Yan Diomande will remain a Leipzig player."
