The coach of the French national team Didier Deschamps commented on the FIFA decision to prohibit players from taking to the field with black armbands in the match of the 3rd round of group I of the 2026 World Cup against the Norwegian national team (4-1). During the World Cup, Deschamps' mother passed away and the coach missed the match against Norway as he returned to France for the funeral. «I received enough support thanks to the gestures of the players and the messages I was able to respond to. I don't know if this would have been possible with the bands, it makes little difference. It didn't help me," Deschamps told RMC Sport. The 2026 World Cup will take place in the United States, Canada and Mexico from June 11 to July 19. The current world champion is Argentina. In the last World Cup, the Argentine national team faced France in the final. The match ended 3-3 after regulation time, but the Argentinians prevailed on penalties 4-2.
