Timber does not start in the Champions League final

Jurriën Timber will not start in Arsenal's Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain, despite manager Mikel Arteta considering him fit. Timber is recovering from an ankle injury and will start from the bench. In attack, Arteta relies on Kai Havertz instead of Viktor Gyökeres.

Jurriën Timber starts on the bench for Arsenal in the Champions League final in Budapest against Paris Saint-Germain on Saturday evening. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta previously said the Dutch international was fit to go.

Arteta chooses a defense made up of Cristhian Mosquera, William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhaes and Piero Hincapié for the duel with PSG. Timber had been out since March 14 with Arsenal due to an ankle injury suffered in the league match against Everton. Now that he has recovered, he has also been called up by selector Ronald Koeman for the World Cup.

In attack, Arteta does not field Viktor Gyökeres as his starting centre-forward, preferring Kai Havertz, who has spent much of the season injured. The German will be supported by Bukayo Saka, Martin Ødegaard and Leandro Trossard. Havertz, we remember, was the matchwinner for Chelsea in the Champions League final in 2021 against Manchester City (1-0).

Arsenal lineup: Raya; Mosquera, Saliba, Gabriel, Hincapié; Rice, Lewis-Skelly; Saka, Ødegaard, Trossard; Havertz
