The president of Sorrento, Giuseppe Cappiello, with a note issued through the club's official channels, took stock of the situation linked to the modernization works of the Stadio Italia in view of the Serie C after the signing of the contract between the Municipality of Sorrento and ATI, with Edil Ferro as agent, for the start of the renovation of the facility which came after months of technical checks and administrative steps.
"We learned with great pleasure that the contract has been signed which gives rise to the definitive approval of the executive project relating to the redevelopment works of the Stadio Italia. A signature that opens the doors to the resumption of the works. - his words on the club's channels - We thank the offices of the Municipality, the new mayor Fattorusso, Doctor Acampora and the ATI, headed by Edil Ferro, who will now take care of making the city facility adequate to the standards required by the Lega Pro. I believe for certain verses in destiny, and the fact that this fateful act arrived at the dawn of the new season when we are proceeding with the sports programming for 2026/2027 finally allows us to look to the future with confidence".
The project involves works that will affect the playing field, the lighting system, the changing rooms, the stands and the parking spaces reserved for teams and match officials. The goal is to be able to return to playing in the home stadium as soon as possible given that this year the stadium chosen for home matches will still be the Donato Curcio in Picerno.
