As reported by "Varzesh 3", Saeed Shirini's name is now linked to Persepolis in a financial dossier. The former manager of the red club, who worked during the presidency of Mohammad Royanian, appealed to the court to receive a payment due to him and documents were published certifying the issuing of an enforcement order against Persepolis and then the registration of his satisfaction agreement. The issue began with the request made by Shirini, in which he claims to have held a role in Persepolis from 2011 to 2013 and to have, at the request of the management at the time, advanced the sum of 8 billion tomans to cover the club's expenses. According to what he declared, these sums would have been registered in the accounts of Persepolis and he requested their repayment through legal channels. The matter then moved to the executive level and, as reported in the sentence issued by branch 52 of the Tehran court, Persepolis is required to pay Shirini the sum of 4,173,000,000 tomans, more or less 4,173,000 euros, as the payment due. Legal interest must be added to the main figure from 19 January 2021, the date on which the case was filed, until today, in addition to legal costs and those for appraisals. Therefore the total amount to be paid to which Persepolis has been condemned is much higher than the main one. However, there is a discrepancy to clarify: the sum Shirini requested payment of, according to what was declared in the lawsuit, was 8 billion tomans, while the sum owed by Persepolis, according to the enforcement order, is just over 4 billion. It is not possible, from what can be seen from the published documents, to understand the reason for this discrepancy. However, a third document has emerged, which clarifies the matter. On September 4, 2023, at a notary in Tehran, Shirini registered a deed declaring that she had received payment and, in exchange, withdrawing all her legal claims against Persepolis. This act of renunciation is not limited to a legal request, but as Shirini himself writes it is a "total and unconditional renunciation" of rights towards Persepolis. Furthermore, he declared that he renounces any type of legal prosecution against the club. However, questions arose regarding the amount Shirini would receive. In another document, handwritten and attached to the notarial deed, reference is made to a figure of 24 billion tomans, which would be the total sum, including interest, that Persepolis would have to pay to settle this dispute. Another document, again handwritten, refers to a figure of 19 billion tomans, which would have been paid to Shirini on 14 October. It is clear that there are inconsistencies between these documents and the notarial deed, and to clarify it will be necessary to consult other documents.
What happens now
With the withdrawal of the legal demands, Persepolis could focus more on its sporting activities and preparation for upcoming competitions. However, the club will have to deal with the financial implications of paying the sum owed to Shirini, which includes interest and legal costs. The situation will require careful management to ensure it does not negatively impact the team's league performance.
