Following Paris Saint-Germain's (PSG) victory in the Champions League final against Arsenal, violent brawls between fans and police occurred in France. The provisional toll is 219 injured, of which 57 belong to the police. Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez reported that 780 people have been arrested for acts of violence, with over 450 of them already in custody. There is also talk of a dead man, found lifeless after an accident that occurred on the Paris ring road, which the troublemakers attempted to block during the night. To contain the riots, which also involved buses and trains, 6,000 officers had been deployed in the French capital. "We are a great country for maintaining public order. We allow freedom of assembly, but not excesses" declared the Minister, adding that the response of the police force must be and will be "firm".
