The tournament will begin in September and will take place in a Swiss league format, similar to the new Champions League model. The two best-ranked teams from each half-season, which runs from September to December and February to April, will qualify for a final tournament, which will be held in front of an audience, unlike league games. Initially, there are no spectators to keep costs down and simplify the organization. Match dates and locations will also remain flexible, with the option to use neutral venues.
Teams will enjoy great flexibility in the composition of their rosters, but it is clear that they will mainly have to field players from the U17 to U21 categories. Furthermore, there will be limited access to more experienced players, to allow those returning from injuries to regain playing experience and facilitate their return to the professional ranks. Initially, 28 clubs had shown interest in this league, but it will eventually start with 26.
