In Sweden there is little hope of success at the World Cup. The Netherlands' group stage opponent failed to win their last match against Greece (2-2). To make matters worse, it appears that Sweden may have also lost Anthony Elanga.

The climate of pessimism in Stockholm is palpable. Greece equalized late on, after Norway had already inflicted a defeat last week (1-3). "It will take a lot more at the World Cup to get close to a victory," noted the Aftonbladet newspaper, unimpressed by Sweden's performance. “It would have been helpful to find a way to play,” he writes sarcastically. "Greece took the 1-0 lead effortlessly, also hitting the crossbar and post and creating further chances. Sweden failed to create a decent attack. They lacked team spirit and when losing the ball, the defense was vulnerable."

“So it will be a very short summer,” commented the media outlet. "World Cup fever? The thermometer is still at mid-field. Anyone who takes it won't burn, since there is no fever. And then there are the images that no one wanted to see..." This reference concerns Elanga, who remained on the ground for several minutes after the match, while the reserves carried out training. The Newcastle United striker has become a big question mark for the World Cup after showing signs of pain. “I think Elanga just got hit in the knee,” coach Graham Potter said. The Englishman hopes it's nothing serious. "The physiotherapist said everything is fine. It's not something we need to worry about too much now," he reassured.
