Érick Gutiérrez's departure from Chivas de Guadalajara appears imminent, but the deal brings with it a worrying financial implication for the club. After falling out of coach Gabriel Milito's plans and not being called up for the summer training camp, the midfielder is looking for a new destination, with Santos Laguna looming as the most likely option.

According to what was reported by journalist Jesús Bernal, the agreement being discussed would be an annual loan with a purchase option. However, the main obstacle lies in the salary structure: to complete the transfer, Guadalajara would be forced to cover part of the player's salary, as the Laguna club is unable to pay the entire salary. The situation is complex for the Guadalajara office.

“Guti,” whose annual salary is estimated at about $1.2 million, became an unsustainable financial burden after no longer being part of the plans. "Chivas will have to absorb part of the player's salary, understanding that he is still under contract," Bernal explained. This reality underlines the team's desperation to free up space on its roster, even if it means continuing to pay part of the salary of a player who is no longer part of Milito's sporting project for the 2026 Apertura.
