Liverpool is ready to invest in the market again next summer. After spending over 450 million euros at the start of the 2025-26 season, the Reds are evaluating new additions to strengthen the squad. Among the names on the management's notebook there would be that of Kees Smit, young midfielder of AZ Alkmaar. Smit confirmed that he is in the sights of some clubs, including Liverpool, and said he was open to a new challenge. "I wouldn't mind staying at AZ and playing every game in the attacking midfield position, but I wouldn't mind taking on a new challenge elsewhere either. Training and playing at a higher level automatically makes you a better footballer. So, as far as I'm concerned, anything is possible. Everything is still very quiet. There are a lot of clubs interested, but we're not yet at the point where the teams have officially presented themselves. I'm not getting carried away by all this. When the time comes, we'll see: either I stay here, or I leave. At the moment I don't There's a lot to be said for that." The Dutch club would have set the price for the sale of Smit at around 52 million euros. Liverpool absolutely need to strengthen their midfield, as the performances of Mac Allister, Szoboszlai and Gravenberch have not been up to par this season.
