Arthur Numan has ended his scouting career at AZ after fourteen years, now looking to new challenges, including organizing events with former players.

Arthur Numan leaves AZ after fourteen years. The former international stops acting as a talent scout for the Alkmaarders. Numan joined AZ in 2012 and has been actively involved in scouting ever since. The former left-back operated mainly behind the scenes. Previously, he had also worked as a scout for Aston Villa. "I have done this job with great pleasure. I had a great group of scouts, with Max Huiberts joining us as technical director in our weekly meetings. But after fourteen years I thought it was time to call it quits," said Numan. "I fondly remember scouting trips to Europe, watching matches live from the stands, looking for suitable players for AZ. Lately, however, I've been making fewer trips; a lot of the scouting now takes place through online videos and data. In any case, it was a great experience. But, all in all, fourteen years is a long time and now it's time to move on to something else." Numan has not yet found another position in the technical sector of a club, but he will not be bored. “I co-organise events with former players in Scotland,” said the former player of clubs such as Glasgow Rangers. "With the events agency we organize evenings with dinners and Q&A sessions for fans, with people like Paul Gascoigne or Brian Laudrup. It's going well and it's really fun. We'll see what else the future holds for me." The general public will know Numan above all for his career as a footballer. He played 45 matches for the Netherlands and wore the shirts of FC Twente, PSV and Rangers FC. Numan was part of the famous Dutch selection of 1998, in which he received a red card against Argentina.
