The rebirth of Yunus Musah under the guidance of Ruben Amorim represents a crucial element for AC Milan's ambitions this Serie A season. Yunus Musah is looking to make the most of his second opportunity with AC Milan after being given a new lease of life under the guidance of Ruben Amorim. The midfielder has become a key element in Amorim's plans this season after losing his place to Massimiliano Allegri and spending the 2025-26 season on loan at Atalanta, where he made limited impact, starting in six games and scoring just two goals.
Since Amorim arrived at San Siro, Musah has accumulated 419 minutes of play in six games, four of which as a starter. While he hasn't recorded any offensive contributions yet, his performances have certainly attracted attention. Among Milan teammates, only Samuel Chukwueze (11) and Christian Pulisic (five) have completed more dribbles than Musah's four, who is tied with Diego Moreira.
Due to his good performances, Musah managed to return to the United States national team, after missing the World Cup call-up, and attributed his return to Amorim's great impact. “I thought maybe [he was] just another manager saying similar things to keep you at the club,” Musah said. "But as the preparation for the season continued, I saw that I played a lot, he talked to me often, and so it was. I started the season playing a lot of minutes, a lot of games as a starter. And now to be here again with the national team is fantastic. It was a great start to the season, having coaches who believe in you is what every player really wants."
AC Milan ended the international break with a 3-0 win against Lecce, with Pulisic, Adrien Rabiot and Moreira scoring in a dominant performance. This result confirmed the strong start of the team under the leadership of Amorim, who now occupies fifth place in Serie A, just two points behind leaders Roma and Inter. Amorim is only the third foreign coach in AC Milan's history to remain unbeaten in his first five league matches, the first to do so since Massimo Giacomini in the 1979-80 season. Furthermore, Milan have remained unbeaten in their first five Serie A matches for the first time since the 2022-23 season and hope to continue this path against Sassuolo next Sunday.
