Logan Chalmers is confident of making the "step up" to the Scottish Premiership after a five-year absence from the top flight, leaving Partick Thistle to sign for St Johnstone. The 26-year-old has signed a two-year contract with the Championship winners, having last played in the Premiership as a substitute for Dundee United in a 3-1 defeat against Hibernian in December 2021. Since then, he has played in the Championship with Inverness Caledonian Thistle, Ayr United and Thistle, as well as in League Two with Tranmere Rovers. Last season, he scored 12 goals and provided nine assists in 44 appearances for Thistle, who finished second behind St Johnstone. “The Saints were a very good team last season and won the league for a reason,” Chalmers told the St Johnstone website. "There was a real consistency week after week. Now I want to add something to that. I had a few conversations with the manager. From the first moment I spoke to him, I could see myself playing here. He was passionate and explained very well how we want to play. It's obviously a step up in the Premiership, but I believe in myself and I'm convinced I can add something to the team." Chalmers, who joined Thistle from Ayr two years ago, has rejected the offer of a new contract with the Glasgow club. Thistle manager Mark Wilson said on the club website: "In my 16 months as part of the first-team coaching staff, Logan was one of the most consistent in the group, producing many goal participations and integrating himself into the group mentality. He was a big part of how we started so strongly last season. He will be greatly missed."
