Spain triumphed with a clear 4-0 against Saudi Arabia in the second group stage match of the 2026 World Cup, achieving a significant result that marked a historic record. As reported by the OptaJose statistics portal on social media, the Spanish national team became the first team in history in which two players scored during a World Cup match under the age of 18. Indeed, Gavi had already scored against Costa Rica in 2022 (18 years and 110 days) and Lamine Yamal achieved this feat in the recent match against Saudi Arabia (18 years and 343 days). In the third round, Spain will face Uruguay on June 27.
