The Cape Verde national team has reached a historic milestone, becoming the first team not to suffer a defeat in their first two matches at the World Cup, with two draws, since Senegal in 2002 (1 win, 1 draw). In the second round of the 2026 World Cup, Cape Verde drew 2-2 against Uruguay, scoring its first ever goal in World Cup history, scored by Krasnodar midfielder Kevin Lenini. In the first match, the team drew 0-0 against Spain. In the third and final round of the group, Uruguay will face Spain, while Cape Verde will face Saudi Arabia, both matches will take place on 27 June.
