34-year-old Belgian national team goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has admitted he may no longer compete in the World Cup. He considers that the 2026 World Cup could represent the last world competition in his career. "I think this will be my last world championship," said Courtois, quoted by journalist Fabrizio Romano on his social media. During the 2026 World Cup, Courtois played two matches with the Belgian national team: in the first round of the group they drew 1-1 against Egypt, while in the second round they drew 0-0 against Iran. At club level, Thibaut has played for Real Madrid since 2018 and has won numerous trophies with Los Blancos, including the Champions League and the Spanish championship. Last season, the 34-year-old goalkeeper played 45 games in all competitions, conceding 43 goals and keeping 17 clean sheets.
