Today, at the Khorramabad Stadium, an interesting match will be played in the Iranian Pro League, which will pit Khyber against Sepahan. This match will feature two players who have so far shown great quality in providing assists to their teammates: Esmaeil Babaei of Khyber and Omid Noorafkan of Sepahan, both with four assists this season. But it is not excluded that one of the two could decide the match with a final winning pass.
Noorafkan provided his fourth assist in Sepahan's final match, a 4-0 win against Mess Shahre Babak, when his precise cross from the right was headed in by Kasra Taheri to make it 4-0. But the Sepahan midfielder did not limit himself to providing assists, in fact in the same match he also scored a goal with a beautiful shot, to which he also added another active participation when his team scored another goal.
Interestingly, Noorafkan's performance was even more impressive when you consider that in the last match his coach deployed him as a right-back instead of regular starter Arya Yousofi, who was absent due to suspension. With Yousofi's return, the manager will now have to decide whether to continue using Noorafkan as a full-back, or return him to his natural role as a midfielder. In any case, Noorafkan's presence will be crucial for Sepahan in this match too, as the opposing team is known for its solid defense and ability to close out when not in possession.
On the other hand, Esmaeil Babaei is also a key player for Khyber. He also provided his fourth assist of the season in the last game, but unlike Noorafkan, who started the season in great form, Babaei had a somewhat duller start to the season, as in the first five matches of the season he had given three assists, but then he struggled to maintain the same pace and it took some time before he managed to provide another assist, which came in the last game against Chador Malu.
Today will also be a match in which one of the two players will be able to take the advantage over the other in the league's assist rankings. In fact, it is not excluded that a decisive pass from one of the two could also turn out to be the one that decides the outcome of the match.
What happens now
With the return of Arya Yousofi, the Sepahan coach will have to decide whether to keep Noorafkan as a right-back or bring him back to his midfield role. This could influence Sepahan's strategy, especially against a team like Khyber, known for its defensive solidity. The match represents an opportunity for both teams to improve their position in the Lega Pro and demonstrate their value on the pitch.
