Julian Ward is set to complete an incredible swap for Liverpool. These are intense days for the Reds sporting director, recently reinstated in his role. Ward has been busy understanding the breadth of work ahead of him. Liverpool are no longer an easy team to manage. There are too many complications within the squad. Regarding the construction of the team, the previous sporting director Richard Hughes made huge mistakes. He signed players with difficult characters, spent a lot on those who were supposed to be "superstars" but realized that in reality they were not that strong. Now, it's up to Ward to remedy this situation. He has to make difficult decisions regarding some of Liverpool's current players, but he also has to figure out how to strengthen the squad with the budget at his disposal. Unfortunately, one of the biggest "culprits" of the Hughes era is Florian Wirtz himself. It was considered an exciting purchase, but it turned out to be a huge flop. Currently, in fact, Wirtz is not at all comparable to the player that Liverpool thought they were buying. He is having great difficulty controlling the ball and is struggling to keep up with the pace of the Premier League. In essence, his adventure at Anfield is not working. And the fans are realizing this too. Wirtz is not the player Liverpool needs right now. His performance in the match against Manchester City, where he was completely absent, only confirmed these impressions. This was Wirtz's chance to prove otherwise and instead he was replaced. A clear signal that the situation at Anfield is about to end for him. Ward would be willing to trade Wirtz. The German, among other things, is arousing the interest of several important clubs. According to what was reported by Ekrem Konur, on X, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Chelsea are interested in Wirtz. Bayern had also already shown interest in the player. On the other hand, however, there would be Michael Olise, a Crystal Palace winger, for whom Liverpool are accelerating contacts to bring him into the team. So a swap hypothesis could arise: Olise for Wirtz. If it comes to fruition, it would be an incredible trade. On the one hand, Liverpool would be deprived of a player who is not living up to expectations, on the other, the Anfield club would secure one of the best right-wingers around.
What happens now
With Bayern Munich's interest in Wirtz, Liverpool could explore several exchange options to improve their squad. Ward is expected to make crucial decisions that could affect the club's future in the Premier League. Liverpool fans will be following the developments carefully, hoping for a reinforcement that can bring the team back to the top of the Bundesliga and the Premier League.
