Jack Walton is keen to renew his spell with Dundee United on a three-year contract after a frustrating season as second goalkeeper with Preston North End. The 28-year-old Englishman spent two seasons at Tannadice on loan from Luton Town, helping lead Jim Goodwin's side to promotion and securing a top-six finish. “A bit frustrated,” Walton told Dundee United on YouTube, when asked about his time with Preston in the second division. "I went there as number two, so I didn't have much time on the pitch, which was a bit strange after playing almost every minute for two seasons. I realized that in this part of my career I want to be on the pitch every week and try to play as many games as possible. When I got the opportunity to come back here, obviously I wanted to make it happen. Coming here permanently and settling down was a big step for me and my family. We've enjoyed our time here, both for football and living here." Walton admitted that since leaving he was "always checking" Dundee United's results and watching their matches when he could, while also keeping in touch with some of his former teammates. He also revealed that working with "brilliant goalkeeping coach" Paul Mathers again was a major factor in his decision, "and hopefully I can continue where I left off."
