Over the last two years, Paris Saint-Germain has turned English teams into true sacrificial victims of their European journey. From Manchester City to Chelsea, passing through Liverpool, Arsenal, Aston Villa, Newcastle, Tottenham and so on. One after the other, almost all of them were knocked down along the Parisians' European journey. But more than a simple coincidence, more than a simple technical superiority, it is a real lesson inflicted on the representatives of the richest league in the world. It all started in the group stage of the 2024/25 Champions League, with that incredible comeback against Manchester City: down 0-2 at the Parc des Princes against Guardiola's team, the Parisians turned everything around by winning 4-2. That was a watershed night, perhaps the real moment in which Luis Enrique's team understood that they could seriously aspire to victory in Europe. Then came Liverpool. And there PSG changed status: in the first leg, in Paris, they completely dominated the match but lost 0-1 in the final, punished by the only real mistake of the evening. It seemed like yet another European curse for the French, but at Anfield the Parisians offered the performance of maturity: 1-0 victory, total emotional control and qualification on penalties thanks to a super Donnarumma. Aston Villa was also overwhelmed by PSG's technical superiority. The 3-1 in the first leg seemed to direct everything, then in the return PSG risked throwing away the qualification by coming back to 3-2. But that very suffering became another stage in the team's mental growth. And then… Arsenal. The same Arsenal that PSG will meet again in a few hours in the final of the 2025/26 edition of the Champions League. In last season's semi-final, the Parisians played perhaps the two best matches ever under Luis Enrique's management against the Gunners: a 1-0 victory at the Emirates with a goal from Dembélé and the ability to resist English pressure for the entire match. At the Parc des Princes, in the return leg, the final 2-1 came for the French which opened the doors to the final, a final which they then won by humiliating Inter. This is how the recent "legend" of PSG was born. And this season too, the script against the English teams was repeated: total domination against Chelsea in the groups, crushing victory against Tottenham also in the groups and victory against Liverpool in the quarter-finals. The only real stain remains the final of the Club World Cup, in which PSG was beaten by Chelsea 3-0. But apart from that, it was and continues to be a real nightmare for the English team to face Paris Saint-Germain. Now fate once again proposes Arsenal, who will have the opportunity to take revenge and redeem the pride of English football.
