Anthony Gordon could be at risk for a place in England's starting line-up, according to Gary Neville. The young striker, who recently moved to Barcelona from Newcastle United before the start of the World Cup, played in England's first two World Cup matches. The 25-year-old played 72 minutes against Croatia and 65 minutes against Ghana but struggled to make a decisive impact. Gordon created two chances, completed two dribbles from seven attempts and won six duels from fourteen. In total he made three shots in the two games.

Neville has expressed concerns about Gordon's position, especially given the good performances of Marcus Rashford, who has shown form in his two appearances off the bench. After the 0-0 draw against Ghana, Neville commented on the 'Stick to Football' podcast: "Anthony Gordon – he's probably the one with the most pressure now. We all thought he probably wouldn't play today. We thought maybe Rashford would come on or something, but he stayed on the pitch. I think he's under pressure now. He's the one who will find it hardest to keep his place."

England are now confident of their place in the knockout stages, still with an 81.7% chance of winning Group L. Thomas Tuchel's side face Panama next Saturday.
