After the first two matches of the group, it was already almost certain that the Dutch national team would reach the round of 16 of the World Cup, but total certainty only arrived on Thursday evening. With the 1-3 victory against Tunisia, the Netherlands obtained the pass to the elimination phase, marking their tenth consecutive access to the group stage of a World Cup. This represents a 100% success rate for the team led by coach Ronald Koeman. The global tournament taking place in Canada, Mexico and the United States marks the Netherlands' twelfth participation, although not all editions have had a group stage. Only one other country has participated in the World Cup multiple times and maintained a perfect group stage: Ireland, which made it out of the group in 1990, 1994 and 2002.
