Go Ahead Eagles has announced the arrival of Nick Marsman. As previously reported by VI, the 35-year-old goalkeeper has signed a one-year contract with an option for a second year. Marsman returns to De Adelaarshorst after thirteen years. In the past, Go Ahead had already loaned the goalkeeper from FC Twente. Under the leadership of Erik ten Hag, the Deventer team had risen to the Eredivisie via the play-offs, with Marsman as first goalkeeper. Subsequently, he also played for FC Utrecht, Feyenoord, Inter Miami, ADO Den Haag and most recently Fortuna Sittard. “When Go Ahead Eagles called me, I was immediately excited,” Marsman said on the club website. "The club's project really attracts me. Also, my friends are in the stands, so I can't wait to play for this team again. When I played here before, I was at the beginning of my career. Now I have a more experienced role and I want to help the guys and take my opportunity." Go Ahead was looking for an experienced goalkeeper to cover Haug's absence. The club also places trust in the young Nando Verdoni (22 years old). “Nick brings a lot of experience with him,” said technical director Marc van Hintum. "He has a good personality and is a winner. He can have a positive influence on the team. We are very happy with his arrival."
