Paraguay's Miguel Almirón was suspended for one match after covering his mouth in a confrontation. This suspension means he will not be able to participate in the final group match against Australia, which will decide whether Paraguay progresses to the knockout stage or not. FIFA has decided not to extend Almirón's ban — all World Cup red cards automatically lead to a one-match suspension — meaning he can feature in the round of 16 match if Paraguay qualifies. "Disqualification of a match for violation of article 14.1.b (unsportsmanlike conduct towards an opponent or a person other than a match official) of the FIFA Disciplinary Code," FIFA said on Tuesday, adding that the decision was not appealable. Gustavo Alfaro's side are currently level on points with Australia ahead of the match, but have a worse goal difference (-2 to zero) than their Group D opponents. Almirón became the first player to be sent off for speaking with his mouth covered in confrontational situations during his country's 1-0 win over Turkey on Friday.
