Ethan Galbraith is set to leave Swansea City for Stoke City after the Welsh club accepted an £8 million bid for the Northern Ireland international midfielder. Galbraith is expected back at Stoke to undergo a medical after Swansea agreed to let him leave after just a year at the club. The 25-year-old, who can also play at right-back, has been a key player for the Swans, having joined the club following a £1.5 million move from Leyton Orient. Swansea were set to offer Galbraith a new long-term contract this summer, but the former Manchester United youth talent is instead set to move in a deal which is also expected to include performance-related bonuses. Sources within the club said it was clear Galbraith had no intention of signing a new contract. Galbraith's current deal with Swansea runs until 2028, with the club having the option to extend it by a further year. However, Swansea decided to acquiesce to the player's exit, rather than force him to stay. The news comes as a blow to coach Vitor Matos, who relied heavily on the midfielder last season. Galbraith will leave the club after having made 44 appearances and scored 4 goals, a good tally considering that he also played on some occasions in his least favorite role, that of right-back. In April, Matos said he hoped Galbraith would stay at Swansea for ten years and called him a "really important player".
