Ben Doherty returns to Coleraine from Derry City, while Ballymena United sign defender Micheal Glynn after his contract with Cliftonville expires.

Ben Doherty has returned to Coleraine from Derry City for an undisclosed fee, signing a two-year contract. During his first spell at the Showgrounds, between January 2019 and the summer of 2021, Doherty scored 36 goals in 86 appearances. Subsequently, he decided to join club Larne before returning to his parent club Derry in January 2023, where he worked with current Bannsiders manager Ruaidhri Higgins. “I was lucky enough to coach Ben for a couple of years at Derry and I have to say he was fantastic for me,” Higgins said. "He brings with him great energy and determination, with a real drive and ability to score and provide assists. Ben is in a period of his career where he will have an incredible determination to be a success. He's 29 years old, he's in his prime and he's coming to an ambitious club that I believe is on the rise." Meanwhile, Ballymena United have completed the signing of defender Micheal Glynn following the expiry of his contract with Cliftonville. The 24-year-old spent two years with the Reds, scoring four goals in 75 appearances and winning the BetMcLean Cup in 2025. Glynn also had spells with Dungannon Swifts, Glenavon and Larne, where he won two Irish Premiership titles. "I'm still very young in my career, but I've already played a lot of games in the league. I've already won some medals and the plan here is to try to get more and aim for Europe," he said on the club's website. “There's a great group here with a lot of quality players that I've had experience playing with.” Additionally, Carrick Rangers have confirmed the return of striker Jack Hastings to the club on a free transfer after he left Larne at the end of his contract. The 19-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Armagh City, had already played the second half of the 2024/25 season at Taylors Avenue, making eight appearances for the club.
