Burnley have stepped up their search to sign current Wales manager Craig Bellamy. The Clarets have contacted the FAW to try to sign the club's former manager as Scott Parker's replacement. No agreement has yet been reached and a compensation issue will also have to be negotiated. Bellamy previously worked at Burnley, under Vincent Kompany, helping them win promotion to the Premier League in 2023. Following Kompany's move to Bayern Munich in 2024, Bellamy was briefly appointed interim manager. The 46-year-old still has two years left on his contract with the FAW, but could decide to end his commitment to the national team early. Burnley are looking for a new manager after Scott Parker parted ways with the club, by mutual consent, in April, just over a week after the club's relegation from the Premier League. Bellamy, a former Wales striker, was quickly identified as a possible replacement for Parker. Before the June friendlies against Ghana and Romania, Bellamy confirmed that he had received offers from clubs, but then decided to stay with the national team. "Everything is in place, I receive full support and in the next two years I will have the opportunity to improve further," Bellamy said. Wales' results under Bellamy have been mixed: the team did not lose in their first nine games, but failed to qualify for the World Cup and won only three of their last eleven games.
