Celtic: O'Neill and Keane in the running for the bench, Hearts close to two signings

Martin O'Neill and Robbie Keane are in the running to become Celtic's new manager. O'Neill, who served as interim manager and won the title, and Keane, the former Ferencvaros manager, are in direct competition for the job. Celtic's main shareholder Dermot Desmond met Keane on Monday. Celtic's board of directors will meet with Keane on Monday evening, as the former Republic of Ireland striker is tipped as favorite for the new job. Keane may want to bring with him a team of collaborators, including Stephen Glass, his former assistant at Ferencvaros, former Celtic captain Scott Brown and current youth coach Jonny Hayes. Meanwhile, Rangers manager Danny Rohl has dropped in preference for the Wolfsburg manager role, with the relegated German club eyeing Verl's current manager Tobias Strobl. Helena Costa, Estoril's sporting director, said they continue to plan for next season with Ian Cathro as coach, but admits there is a lot of interest in him. Arne Engels has signed with a new agency as he looks to leave Celtic, with several Premier League and Serie A clubs, including AC Milan, tracking the 22-year-old midfielder. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's girlfriend, Little Mix singer Perrie Edwards, hopes Celtic will exercise their option to extend the 32-year-old midfielder's contract for another season. Celtic have again rejected a bid from Lech Poznan for Luis Palma following the player's loan, and the Polish champions have a week to exercise their £3.5million purchase option. Sevilla are also interested in Palma's situation, after Celtic rejected the proposal to reduce the purchase option from 3.5 million to around 2.6 million. Colby Donovan remains under contract with Celtic until 2028, despite recent uncertainty over the young right-back's future. Dundee United rejected a £900,000 bid for Will Ferry, which attracted the attention of top-flight clubs in Slovakia and the Czech Republic; the Tannadice club is asking for a sum well over one million for the twenty-five year old attacker. Falkirk and Hearts have agreed a price for Calvin Miller, with the 28-year-old striker set to join the Edinburgh club after completing a medical. Hearts are close to finalizing the signing of 24-year-old striker Amadou Ba-Sy from Rouen, as well as that of Falkirk winger Calvin Miller. Falkirk are set to sign Latvian centre-back Denniss Melniks, with the 23-year-old leaving Auda as a free agent. Bojan Miovski is not ruling out the possibility of leaving Rangers this summer as he is determined to play more next season. Odense are considering a bid for Aberdeen winger Topi Keskinen, who was spotted during Finland's friendly against Germany on Sunday. Aberdeen manager Stephen Robinson has confirmed that young midfielder Kjartan Mar Kjartansson could be loaned out next season. Striker Owen Elding said he rejected offers from bigger clubs to join Hibernian from Sligo Rovers in January as he wanted to play regular first-team football rather than under-21s.
