Celtic have made preliminary contacts for 23-year-old former Hibernian striker Kieron Bowie, following Hellas Verona's relegation from Serie A. The green and whites are also monitoring Astana midfielder Ivan Basic, 24, who is playing for Bosnia and Herzegovina during the World Cup.

Meanwhile, Dundee United are close to signing Northern Ireland defender Michael Forbes, 22, who was released by West Ham United. Forbes will sign a two-year contract with an option for an additional year, provided he passes his medical.

Dundee United attacking midfielder Julius Eskesen, 26, who made just three starts in his first season at Tannadice, is attracting the attention of Swedish club GAIS. With four signings already in place, Heart of Midlothian expect to complete up to six further deals before the summer window closes, and there will likely be one or two departures too.

A striker and a central defender are Hibernian's priorities for the summer transfer window. Cove Rangers hope to continue taking young Aberdeen players on loan next season.

Hearts manager Derek McInnes, who is on the verge of joining Rangers, did not reject Ibrox as was claimed in 2017, but rejected a move from Aberdeen due to a late change in then-chairman Dave King during contract talks.

Hearts are unlikely to turn to two former Tynecastle stalwarts - Falkirk's John McGlynn and Dundee's Steven Pressley - as replacements if McInnes joins Rangers, but they could still look to the Scottish market. Dundee's Luke Graham is top of Rangers' wish list once McInnes takes over the reins.
